Zest Recycle joins the board of Brentwood Environmental Business Alliance
Zest Recycle has joined the board of the Brentwood Environmental Business Alliance (BEBA)
The Brentwood Environmental Business Alliance was launched at the Brentwood Business Showcase back in October 2021, with the aim of encouraging local businesses to become more environmentally friendly by making a pledge to improve a range of core environmental topics including carbon reduction, biodiversity loss, and the reduction and recycling of waste. Co-founded by Brentwood Borough Council and Brentwood based Baker Labels Ltd, the Alliance commits businesses to making the most sustainable business decisions, to reduce their environmental impact.
The board held their first meeting on Tuesday 30th November to shape and agree the principles of the Alliance and to share their own experiences of introducing environmentally friendly practices.
Tony McPartland from Zest Recycle was selected as a board member and spoke at the first meeting about how to establish a business’ current CO2 emissions and create a baseline together for benchmarking and tracking progress towards carbon neutrality.
Tony McPartland, Managing Director of Zest Recycle, commented: ‘We are delighted to be a part of the Brentwood Environmental Business Alliance. We are committed to proactively helping our local environment through our direct support of local businesses waste and recycling needs, but also providing additional advice and assistance in other forms such as through BEBA, can provide a collaborative answer to achieving the Net Zero goal’.
On its launch BEBA signed up 25 members and in only a few short months is now up to over 45 members.
The UK have committed to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2050 and cut emissions down 78% by 2035 compared to levels in 1990, so businesses are going to come under increasing pressure to demonstrate how they are reducing their carbon impact.
